How we handle your information

A plain account of what SUNNY NEST LTD collects, why we keep it, and the choices you have over your own details.

Last updated: 1 January 2025

1. Introduction & scope

SUNNY NEST LTD is a privately-owned company registered in England and Wales under company number 16398896. Our registered office is Flat 18 Abney Park Court, 230 Stoke Newington High Street, London, N16 7HF, United Kingdom. For the purposes of this policy, we act as the “controller” of your personal information.

This policy applies whenever you browse this website, contact our studio, or purchase our garden goods through the Amazon Marketplace. It is written to meet our obligations under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, and it sets out plainly what we gather, why, and for how long.

2. The information we gather

We collect only what is genuinely needed to make, deliver and look after your order:

  • Contact details — your name, the email address and phone number you give us when you write to the studio, and any delivery address you share.
  • Order details — your Amazon order number, the items purchased and the delivery address, supplied by Amazon so we can support you after the sale.
  • Correspondence — the content of any letter, email or note you send us, kept so we may answer you properly.
  • Technical detail — a small amount of anonymised information about how this site is used, as described under Cookies below.

We do not gather special category data, and we never receive your payment card details — Amazon handles every transaction in full on our behalf.

3. Why we use your information

Under the UK GDPR each use of your information must rest on a lawful basis. We rely on the following, drawn from Article 6(1):

  • Performance of a contract (6(1)(b)) — to make, dispatch and support the goods you have ordered.
  • Legal obligation (6(1)(c)) — to keep the tax and accounting records of our trade that UK law requires of us.
  • Legitimate interests (6(1)(f)) — to answer your messages, improve our goods and guard against fraud, weighed always against your own reasonable expectations.
  • Consent (6(1)(a)) — only where you ask to hear from us or accept non-essential cookies. Consent can be taken back at any time.

4. Disclosure to third parties

We pass on your information only where it is genuinely necessary:

  • Amazon — as a seller on the Amazon Marketplace, we exchange order information through Amazon’s services so your purchase and any return can be completed.
  • Service providers — carriers, email hosts and accountants who act on our written instructions as processors and may not use your details for their own ends.
  • Legal authorities — where UK law, a court or the protection of our customers and studio requires it.

Your details are never sold to anyone, for any purpose.

5. Cookies & tracking technologies

This website keeps cookies to a minimum. Essential cookies keep the site working and are set without consent. Analytics cookies, where you allow them, tell us which pages are read, using aggregated and anonymised figures. Preference cookies simply remember your settings between visits.

You may clear cookies at any time through your browser; the site will continue to work, though some small conveniences may be lost. Where cookies are not essential, we ask your consent first and you may withdraw it whenever you choose.

6. Data security & retention

We look after your information with sensible care — encrypted in transit, open only to the staff who need it, and held by service providers we review regularly. Perfect security can never be promised by anyone, but we keep the risk as low as is reasonably possible.

We keep personal information only for as long as it serves a clear purpose:

  • Customer service records — kept for up to three years after your most recent order, so warranty claims can be met.
  • Tax and accounting records — held for the period HMRC requires, at present no less than six years.
  • Warranty claims — the length of the warranty plus a further twelve months.
  • Anonymous analytics — held only in aggregate, with nothing that could identify you.

7. Your rights

As someone in the United Kingdom, you have a clear set of rights over your personal information. You are entitled to:

  • Be informed about how your data is used, which is the purpose of this policy.
  • Access a copy of the information we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that is inaccurate or unfinished.
  • Have erased information where the law allows (the “right to be forgotten”).
  • Restrict or object to our processing, including any direct marketing.
  • Receive your data in a structured, portable form.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely upon it.

To use any of these rights, write to koca@sunnynest.co.uk. If you feel we have let you down, you may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

8. Contact & updates

We review this policy from time to time and will always show the date of the latest revision above. Should we make a change that affects information we already hold, we will tell you by email or a clear notice on this website.
